Although I liked “living” in my other blog... i have decided to move.
I am using the same photo and post to end the other and begin this one... because this photo has good memories, and also because on this day, decisions were made.
C and I found this nest in the park in Évora near a bench. It had fallen from it's tree and we were upset to see the eggs broken against the red wood.
This nests maker also had a new beguining that day.
Wish us luck.
Embora tenha gostado de viver no meu outro blog... decidi mudar-me.
Estou a usar a mesma foto e post para terminar um e recomeçar outro... porque esta foto traz boas lembranças, e também porque nest dia, foram tomadas decisões.
O C e eu encontrámos este ninho no park de Évora perto dum banco. Caira da sua árvore e ficámos aborrecidos por ver os ovos partidos contra a madeira vermelha.
Quem fez este ninho também teve neste dia um recomeço.

On my weekend we ran into a DALI exibite... can you believe it? In Evora... Oh! for those of you who never noticed, my name is Zélia Évora, but i never had gone there... so, we went:)
Also a flea market... how i have learn to adore flea markets.... so, i found these buttons i had to get!.... i am quite addicted and think my husband might think i am going bananas... But the thing i loved most about them were that they are actually portuguese vintage. Ha! what a bargain, too...

Ok, so i also need to snif this book, and yes, i do need rehab, but, i am almost 39... if i don't get what i want, some people in this house might need to be doing more sweeping, cleaning dishwashing... (a little balckmale never hurt);

No fim de semana enquanto passeávamos em Évora (Sim, a Zélia Evora finalmente foi conhecer Évora) fomos de encontro a uma exposição dos desenhos do DALI (acreditam?)... Também uma pequena feira de antiguidades/velharias... lá encontrei estes botões que tive de comprar, especialmente porque eram vintage Português.... estou completamente viciada nestas coisas de feiras e costura, e acho que o meu marido tem agora a certeza da minha loucura. ok, outra coisa é que preciso adquirir com urgência este livro, sim, preciso de reabilitação, mas estou quase nos 39... se não tenho o que quero, algumas pessoas cá em casa terão mais tarefas domésticas a cumprir (um pouco de chantagem nunca fez mal a ninguém);

How do i have time, after getting things ready in the morning... after to taking my son to his grandmothers ten km away, coming back to a nine to 17 job... shopping, coming back home, playing with my son, making dinner, giving my son a bath, blábláblá... well, i must confess... i am a terrible housewife... if i don't craft i go crazy... so, there's always something i don't do, the dishes or laundry... as long as i can play with my son, neck with hubby and craft... all is well in my kingdom.... And if i can't do what i like, whats the point?

Como tenho tempo, depois de preparar tudo de manhã, levar o meu filho á avó a 10 km da minha casa, voltar para um emprego a tempo inteiro, ir ás compras, voltar para casa, brincar com o meu filho, fazer o jantar, dar banho ao miudo... devo ocnfessar. Sou uma péssima dona de casa e há sempre muita coisa que não fiz, ou lavar a louça ou a roupa... desde que possa brincar com o meu filho, namorar e "cozer"... tudo está bem no meu reino... E se não pudermos fazer o que gostamos, de que nos vale?

Digam lá que não é linda demais! Quando abri o envelope, não consegui evitar a emoção e o meu coração deu o pulo, acho que por ter vindo dum lugar onde as mulheres ainda carregam os filhos assim por puro instinto.

Pois é... afinal não é infecção... era só uma febre... normal!
Então as novidades são, o Manuel está choroso e inchado, mas finalmente passou para a enfermaria... entusiasma-se muito com o facto de poder mamar... puxa a sonda... e está energético, apesar de tudo.

It seems as though Manuel doesn't have an infection after all – it was just a normal fever. So, he's in the nursery (?) he cries a lot, and is swolen, but anyway, still goes nuts about his mommies “boobs” and is quite energetic.

O Manuel está com infecção (não sei ainda pormenores) de qualquer forma à tarde a Claudia estava muito contente porque lhe deixaram dar de mamar, embora inclinada sobre o berço.... para além disso a enfermeira do turno chamava-se Zélia... (será que era boazinha?)

Manuel had an infection yesterday... i don't know any details. Anyway, Claudia was so appy they let her breastfeed, even if she had to do it laying over the bed... and can you belive the nurses name is Zélia??? I hope she's nice:)

Selvedge

Porque será... é cara... demais... ainda assim não lhe consigo resistir! Felizmente raramente aparece no quiosque da esquina.

Why is it i just can't resiste? Its expensive... and i am glad I can't always find it!

In a woven fabric, the selvage (or selvedge) is the uncut edge of the fabric which is on the right- and left-hand edges as it comes out of the loom. As such it is 'finished' and will not fray because the weft threads double back on themselves.
Very often fabric near the selvage is not usable as it may have a different weave pattern, or may lack pile or prints that are present on the rest of the fabric requiring that the selvage fabric be cut off or hidden in a hem.

Nas minhas pesquisas pelo mundo dos tecidos, encontrei este tecido "paper doll"... e deu-me umas saudades de brincar com estas bonecas de papel... Tinha uma gaveta cheia destas bonecas que a minha mãe me comprava e que eu adorava... Será que ainda as encontro??

Well, i must say i was so pleased with all the treasures i received in my mail box this wednesday... i know i should have posted this before... but this week was quite strange!!! So, better late then never...
This photo above is a pincushion i received in the below pacage... from Gisele... and guess what? i actually used it that very same day, together with the pins... the fabric is lovely and reminds me of my childhood in Toronto...

And below you can see the wonderful fabrics from New Zealand... and a special wool i will make myself something with... from dear Sally!

Aqui está o meu quilt em progresso. Decidi pôr de lado o primeiro bocado que fiz para seguir a recomendação da Rita e fazer dum modo mais simples, que também fica bonito. E está mesmo a resultar... cortei todos os quadrados e estão todos no devido lugar. Estou agora a cozê-los...

Ok.... So, this is how my quilt is going... i have decided to leave my first "square" on stand by and try to do my first quilt like Rita recomended... Keep it simple. And guess what? It's working. I have the squares all in place, and am now stitching them together.

Hoje depois de um exame médico decidi ir espreitar a loja vintage e não é que encontrei uma coisa que me faz imenso jeito????

Faltavam aqui umas fotos da "rodilha" finalmente na minha posse. Queria só dizer à Gisele, querida, que não é uma almofada... ou talvez seja, uma almofadinha que ajuda a equilibrar pesos, as peixeiras (como a minha bisavó and my grandmother) certamente lhe davam muito uso... para mim, é um lembrete dos "bons velhos tempos" e um mimo... Podes saber mais no blog da Mary!
Como tenho tido muita coisa para equilibrar, na cabeça, dentro dela, estou finalmente e com um empurrão amigo, a usar estes retalhos para começar, sim, é verdade...

I owed my blog some photos os my "rodilha" finally in its home. I just wanted to tell Gisele, dear friend, that it's not a pillow... or maybe, ok, a tiny pillow that helps hold weight, fishwife (is this a word???) (like my great grandmother and my grandmother) used them a lot... for me, it's a reminder of the good old days and a tresure... You can know more about them in Mary's blog!
Since i've had a lot on my mind, i am finally and with a little push from a new friend, using these pieces of fabric to begin, yes, it's true...

Tear/Loom

Há alguns anos, tirei um curso de tecelagem contemporânea... este foi o meu trabalho!...
Some years ago i toke a course that taught me how to make this!...

Depois mandei fazer este tear... que é bem maior... e o dobro do trabalho...
Then i asked someone to make me this loom... which is a lot bigger and twice the hard work...

É um trabalho moroso... mas delicioso... que vou retomar inspirada na Sally!
It takes a long time to work on.... but it's delicious... i will get back to it inspired on Sally!

O grande problema são os fios de algodão que temos de colocar um a um e estar constantemente a esticar com estes nós e confusão que vêem!

The big problem are the coton strings we must put on one by one and always strech... with these knots and mess!

E lembra aconchego de bebés... (novo pouche) and remindes me of baby cuddling (new pouche)

Also, in autumn i need more calories... so there, 3 cheers for pancakes!
